Welcome.... I began this task back in 1995 and little did I know that it was like opening Pandora's Box! I had no idea at that time that I would be able to locate information back as far as the 1700's beginning with my Great-Great Grandparents and all of their children down through the years , ending (so far) with my own brother, sisters, and myself. My initial interest in pursuing our family ancestry began through correspondance with my first cousin, Linda Paschall, who now resides in North Carolina. She had started a booklet for her own "Wheeler Family". In doing so, she discovered a great many "Paschall" names due to two Paschall brothers having married two Wheeler sisters..... no this isn't one of those "I'm my own grandpa" routines, but it sure does get interesting!
To begin my own research, my older sister Jean and I actually traveled to Henderson, North Carolina where we began searching and verifying information through courthouse records, marriage licenses, census records and birth records. I was surprised to learn that actual Birth Certificates did not come into existence until the year 1913.
Amazingly, we ended up talking to an elderly resident who actually remembered some of our kinfolk. He was able to direct us to a woman in her 70's, Reese Boyd, who was once married to a Paschall, and whose own grandmother was a Paschall.
Thank heaven the memories of some of our relatives is much better than my own today -- don't go asking me what I had for breakfast!! I truly suffer from 'senior moments' from time to time.
So let's begin our journey back through time, to visit our Great Great Grandparents.
